Nancy Wilson and Maisie Richardson

Nancy Wilson, a jazz performer and a three-time Grammy Award winner was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on 20 February 1937 to Olden Wilson, an ironworker who was employed for a lengthy period as a housekeeper. Nancy Wilson was first born child at the age of 6. Nancy grew up listening to her dad's records and his love for music. Nancy knew that she was going to be a singer at the age of just four years old. In just a few months, she was offered a gig singing in The Blue Morocco Night Club situated on Boston Road in The Bronx the place where her agent heard her, and she was signed. The contract was signed with Capitol Records in 1960. In 1960, she debuted with the song. Guess who I saw in the present. Her albums were a hit and Capitol released 5 Nancy Wilson albums in two years. With the help of Adderley's influence she shifted her focus from R&B towards jazz. Their collaboration in 1962 with Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley was instrumental in propelling her to the top and her breakthrough song Tell Me the Truth in 1963. The following year it led to her being booked at New York's Coconut Grove - the top nightclub in America.
