Nancy Wilson is a Grammy Award winner in jazz. Her birth date was the 20th of February, 1937 in Chillicothe Ohio, to Olden Wilson who was a worker at the ironworks as well as Lillian Ryan, a former domestic employee. Nancy released her debut recording on Dot Records during the time she spent in this band. Cannonball Adderley told her to move to New York to further her career, and she moved to The Big Town to begin her career in 1959. Adderley's Agent heard her in The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she signed. within a month after her arrival at New York City. Her debut on the recording stage came in the year 1960, with the single "Girls" after she signed the contract with Capitol records. Guess whom I am seeing this morning. Capitol Records issued five Nancy Wilson albums over a period of two years. Adderley influenced her to move away from R&B and to focus on the torch and jazz genres. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley formed a band in 1962. This allowed her to climb the charts. The year 1963 was when she scored her greatest success by releasing Tell Me the Truth. This brought her a gig at New York's Coconut Grove the premier night club in America the following year and she became a star.
